The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a pair of unrelated shootings that left four people wounded at the start of the weekend. Keith Gadsden, 48, was shot in the torso with a military-style rifle at 11:30 p.m. Friday at his home at 3479 Henry Singleton Road on Johns Island. Deputies found a ski mask at the scene and seized a number of gambling machines from the location, according to the sheriff's office. Gadsden was transported to Medical University Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition on Saturday, according to Cynthia Abole of the hospital's public relations staff. Maj. John Clark, the Sheriff's Office spokesman, said investigators are searching for suspects and motive. Detectives also are investigating why gambling machines were on the property, he said. Three people were wounded in the second shooting, which took place at 2:30 a.m. at Ardy's Club at 5975 Maybank Highway on Wadmalaw Island. Shots reportedly were fired after an altercation in the club spilled outside, deputies said. Richard Champaigne, 24, was shot once in the chest and flown by helicopter to Medical University Hospital, Clark said. The hospital had no information to release on his condition. Two other victims who have not been identified were treated at area hospitals but they left before deputies arrived, he said. Deputies located no witnesses to that shooting and are investigating possible motives, Clark said. Anyone with information on the shootings can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

WWS Mayor? this happens way more often in the north
look at the stats for what used to be the countries toughest gun law area, DC ... and NYC or Philly or Maryland, or Chicago or LA or or or or....
fortunately we pale in comparison and it's usually all over illegal drugs by people using illegal guns... often involving illegal aliens...

I hope we pale, we have 500,000 in this dump. Not a couple of million.

Just like I said last week, I will never say shootings, etc. wont happen in my area. Look at what happened. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Ardy's, any club that only has one entrance and one exit wont get my money. I'm wondering why Mr. Gadsden had gambling machines...?

He had gambling machines because the same things that happen at one home can easily happen at others. (i.e. poker busts in Tanner)

I'm sorry that there was a victim connected w/ these gambling machines but I feel it's so hypocrytical that my friend was killed over gambling in a hotel room and he's being blamed for his death by commenters on this site but none of those people that are bashing him and SO against illegal gambling came to comment on this story and he actually HAD gambling machines. WTF?!?!?
