For some Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission activities, a chaperon is required for participants 15 and younger. Registration is required for all programs and some special events. Call 795-4386 or visit www.ccprc.com to register or for information. July programs Early Morning Bird Walks at Caw Caw: Join the regular bird walk. The walk through many distinct habitats will allow participants to discuss birds, butterflies and other organisms. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Meets at Caw Caw Interpretive Center. $5/free for Gold Pass members. 8:30 a.m.-noon July 19, 23, 26, 29. Parent and Child Edisto River Canoeing: Bring Mom or Dad for a day on the Edisto River. Learn basic canoe strokes before embarking on a downriver float. These programs are for children ages 8-16 and their parents. A registered and paid chaperon is required for participants ages 16 and under. Preregistration required. Meets at CCPRC headquarters. Ages 8 and up. Fee: $34/$28 CCR discount. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. July 19. ACA Coastal Kayak Assessment Level 3: Join ACA instructor on the Folly River for the chance to gain the Level 3 Coastal Kayak Award. This is an opportunity to show that your skills are ready for the next level. Preregistration required. Meets at CCPRC headquarters. Ages 16 and up. Fee: $66/$55 CCR discount. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 19. Canoeing At Caw Caw: Salt Marsh Paddle. Explore mysterious ruins of a factory, a gnarled ghost forest and long-abandoned rice fields, while looking for elusive Clapper Rails and other creatures during a paddle into the tidal salt marshes of Caw Caw. A registered and paid chaperon is required for participants ages 16 and under. Preregistration required. Meets at Caw Caw Interpretive Center. Ages 9 and up. Fee: $18/$15 CCR discount. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. July 19. Reggae Concert Series: Eclectic Roots Ensemble. ERE has made a point to play positive roots rock music and solid "riddims" for dancing feet. Bring a chair or blanket and rock the night away. Food, beverages and souvenirs will be available for purchase. Outside alcohol and coolers are prohibited. No advance tickets will be sold. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., music begins at 8:30 p.m. Meets at James Island County Park. Fee: $6 or four Greenbax/Free: Gold Pass members and ages under 12. 7:30-11 p.m. July 19.
