Wine Festival at Freshfields The Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic will host the second annual Lowcountry Wine Festival from 5-8 p.m. Saturday on The Green at Freshfields Village. Entries sought for art exhibits The Saul Alexander Foundation Gallery in the Charleston County Public Library announces a call for entries for juried art exhibitions, solo or group, until Sept. 5 at the Main Library on 68 Calhoun St. Preference is given to work reflecting experiences and viewpoints of South Carolina residents. Deadline for completed applications is Sept 5, 2008. Club Anime! plans meeting Tuesday The teen-geared Club Anime!, dedicated to the art of Anime and Manga, will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at John's Island Regional Library. 'Grocer's Son' at main library The Charleston County Main Library will show the film "The Grocer's Son" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. It is summer, and 30-year-old Antoine is forced to leave the city to return to his family in Provence. His father is sick, so he must assume the lifestyle he thought he had shed — driving the family grocery cart from hamlet to hamlet, delivering supplies to the few remaining inhabitants. Accompanied by Claire, a friend from Paris whom he has a secret crush on, Antoine gradually warms up to his experience in the country and his encounters with the villagers, who initially seem stubborn and gruff, but ultimately prove to be funny and endearing.
