Programs, announcements

Fall Youth Sports Registration: Extended (no late fee). For all areas, including James Island, Peninsula, Daniel Island, West Ashley. Extended registration is until further notice.

Tennis Block Party: 9:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 30. Free tennis lessons, music, prizes and refreshments. All ages. Two block party locations: Charleston Tennis Center, 19 Farmfield Ave.; Maybank Tennis Center, 1880 Houghton Drive.

2008 After School Programs: Programs fill quickly.

--City Gym: 65 Hagood St. Free; participant agreement required. Monday-Friday, 3-4:30 p.m. 724-7338.

--Deming Park: 5th Avenue, Maryville. $25/school year. Monday-Friday, 3:30-6 p.m. Forest Park, 780 W. Oak Forest. $50/school year. Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. 769-8259.

--Lenevar Playground: 1305 Lenevar Drive. $25/school year. Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. 556-7393.

--Martin Park: 155 Jackson St. $25/school year. Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:30 p.m. 973-7222.

--St. Julian Devine Community Center: 1 Cooper St. $25/school year. Monday-Friday, 2:30-5:30 p.m. 724-7350.

--Westchester Playground: Secessionville Road. $25/school year. Monday-Friday, 3:30-6 p.m. 762-2499.

Therapeutic Recreation: Register for basketball (ongoing), tennis (ongoing), cheerleading (ongoing) and swimming. Call Shelli Davis, therapeutic recreation coordinator, at 769-8284.

City Gym Boys & Girls Summer Basketball League: Ages 5-17. Registration forms may be filled out at City Gym (65 Hagood Ave.). $30/child. Call 724-7338 or 724-7340.
