Authorities cleared the scene of a crash that had backed up traffic Monday morning on eastbound Interstate 26 near the Midland Park Road overpass in North Charleston.

The wreck was reported around 6:35 a.m. near Mile 209, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. Troopers had cleared the left lane of the highway by 7:20 a.m.

The agency did not immediately indicate whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Because of the crash, S.C. Department of Transportation cameras had showed heavy eastbound traffic between the Ashley Phosphate Road and University Boulevard interchanges.

The traffic was expected to ease because the scene had been cleared, but motorists should still expect a delay in the area.
